ELECTROCARDIOGRAM - ECG

An ECG is used to measure the rate and rhythm of the heart; the size and position of the heart chambers; the presence of any damage to the heart’s muscle cells or its conduction system; the effects of medications in the electrical activity of the heart; and to check the function of implanted pacemakers/Defibrillators.

SPIROMETRY

A pulmonary function test - PFT, measures lung function, specifically the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled. Spirometry is used for assessing pulmonary conditions such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis among others.

HOLTER MONITOR

It is a portable device for continuous monitoring of the electrical activity of the heart for 24 hours or more. Its extended recording period is useful for detecting abnormal heart beats/cardiac arrhythmias which would be difficult to identify on a single electrocardiogram.

NEBULIZATIONS/BREATHING TREATMENTS

This procedure is a medication delivery system in the form of a mist inhaled through the mouth into the lungs. It is used for the treatment of asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions.

SKIN BIOPSY

An ambulatory procedure that involves the removal of an entire skin lesion or a piece of skin under local anesthesia. It is then examined by a pathologist in the laboratory to help us determine the cause/etiology of the skin lesion. There are several types of skin biopsies: Excisional, shave and punch.

SKIN LESION(S) REMOVAL

An ambulatory procedure done under local anesthesia to remove benign or malignant skin lesions using either a scalpel or electrocautery. Also, liquid nitrogen (CRYOTHERAPY) can be used without the need for local anesthesia.

URINE TEST

A urine sample is collected in the office and tested using a urine strip/dipstick. It is a useful diagnostic tool that helps us to identify acute or chronic urinary findings including blood, sugar, ketones, bacteria, and/or fungus.

BLOOD SUGAR TEST

It is a blood sample taken at the office using a lancet and pricking one of the fingers. It is taken at random. Per ADA guidelines, a “normal” random glucose in an average adult is 79 – 140 mg/dl. Between 140 – 200 mg/dl is pre-diabetes, and > 200 mg/dl diabetes.

STREP TEST

It Is an in-office rapid antigen detection test (RADT) used to diagnose an infectious pharyngitis caused by group A streptococci (GAS), in addition to clinical symptoms. A sample is collected from the throat using a swab.

VACCINATIONS

It is the administration of antigenic material (a vaccine) to stimulate an individual’s immune system. Vaccines can prevent or ameliorate the symptoms from an infection for which the patient is being vaccinated. During influenza season we offer the Flu vaccine. All others are given at local pharmacies and/or health departments.

JOINT/INTRA-ARTICULAR INJECTIONS

This ambulatory procedure is used to help in the management of symptoms for medical conditions that cause painful and inflamed joint(s), such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, tendinitis, bursitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and osteoarthritis. First, a local anesthetic is applied to the affected joint before the insertion of a needle. A disposable syringe containing steroids and anesthetics are injected to the affected joint(s) and then removed. The puncture site is then covered with a Band-Aid.

Civil USCIS SURGEON

Civil surgeons are an essential component of the U.S. immigration system, ensuring that immigrants are medically fit to enter the country. Their work helps to protect public health and prevent the spread of communicable diseases.

EAR LAVAGE

Excessive earwax may impede the passage of sound in the ear canal, causing conductive hearing loss. The most common method of cerumen removal is syringing with warm water. Once the cerumen has been softened, it may be removed from the ear canal by irrigation.
